Departing the local area in the morning, we begin our journey toward Newbury, with comfort stops along the way. En route, we make a stop in the picturesque market town of Stratford-upon-Avon - the birthplace of William Shakespeare. Here, you'll have free time to explore at your leisure: stroll along the River Avon, visit independent shops, or simply soak in the charm of this historic town.
We then continue on to our hotel in Newbury, where you'll have time to settle in and unwind and enjoy the hotel's facilities at your own pace before enjoying a relaxing dinner to end the day.

After breakfast, we set off for the quaint village of Bampton, nestled in the Oxfordshire countryside. Fans of Downton Abbey will instantly recognize it - Bampton served as the fictional village of Downton in the beloved series. With its charming stone cottages, the historic church, and the familiar streets featured in the show, it's like stepping onto the set and into another time. From there, we continue our journey to the magnificent Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. We enjoy a self-guided tour of the Palace, its sweeping parklands, and exquisitely landscaped gardens. Evening dinner in the hotel.

After breakfast, we depart the hotel and begin our journey to the elegant Georgian town of Newbury, where we'll enjoy a short visit. Take a moment to stroll its charming streets, soak in the local atmosphere, or perhaps grab a coffee before we continue on to one of the highlights of the trip - Highclere Castle. Best known as the iconic setting of the beloved television series Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle welcomes us for our 11:00 am entry. Please note that there are no formal guided tours inside the Castle; instead, a free-flow system is in place, allowing you to explore at your own pace. Friendly and knowledgeable guides are stationed throughout the rooms to answer any questions and share fascinating details about the Castle's history and its role in the series.
We'll spend approximately four hours at Highclere - the recommended duration - giving you plenty of time to explore the Castle's grand interiors and lush gardens. Evening dinner in the hotel.
