Situated on the edge of Eryri National Park, Caernarfon is the perfect base for exploring the spectacular scenery of North Wales. Highlights include a journey to the summit of Yr Wyddfa on the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway, where breathtaking panoramic views await, together with a single journey on the scenic Welsh Highland Railway through dramatic mountain landscapes and a single journey on the historic Ffestiniog Railway through beautiful valleys and slate-mining country. The tour also includes a visit to the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed, known as the gateway to Snowdonia, where charming shops, riverside scenery, and stunning mountain views combine to create one of the most scenic destinations in Wales.

Thurs 10th June 27

Departing from the local area this morning, we begin our journey to our hotel in the historic town of Caernarfon. En route, we’ll make comfortable stops along the way and enjoy a relaxing break in the charming city of Chester, where you’ll have ample time to explore, enjoy lunch, or simply soak up the atmosphere at your leisure.

Continuing on through the scenic landscapes of North Wales, we arrive at our hotel in the late afternoon, allowing time to settle in and freshen up before enjoying our evening meal.

Fri 11th June 27

After breakfast, enjoy a memorable single journey aboard the Welsh Highland Railway, travelling between Caernarfon and Porthmadog. Sit back and relax as you journey through the breathtaking scenery of Snowdonia National Park, where dramatic mountains, sweeping valleys and unspoilt countryside provide a truly unforgettable backdrop.

On arrival in Porthmadog, you’ll have free time to explore this charming harbour town at your leisure, perhaps enjoy a stroll along the waterfront, browse the local shops, or relax in one of the cafés.

Later, we rejoin the coach and return to our hotel, arriving in time to unwind before our evening meal.

After breakfast, we set off for Llanberis to experience a truly unforgettable journey aboard the Snowdon Mountain Railway. Ascend to the summit of Snowdon, relaxing as breathtaking views of rugged peaks, tranquil lakes, and sweeping valleys unfold around you. At the summit, take time to enjoy the spectacular panoramas (weather permitting) and capture memories of this iconic landscape.

On our return to Llanberis, we visit the Snowdonia Visitor Centre, where interactive exhibits provide fascinating insights into the park’s natural beauty, wildlife, and history.

Our exploration continues at the National Slate Museum, offering a captivating look at the region’s slate industry. Discover traditional quarrying techniques, step inside historic workshops, and gain a deeper understanding of the communities that shaped this remarkable landscape.

After this enriching day, we rejoin the coach and return to our hotel, arriving in time to relax and freshen up before our evening meal.

After breakfast, we travel to the charming village of Betws-y-Coed, nestled in the heart of Snowdonia National Park to Porthmadog to board the historic Ffestiniog Railway for a single scenic journey to Blaenau Ffestiniog, passing through deep valleys, rugged cliffs, and picturesque villages. On arrival, there is time to explore the town at leisure and perhaps enjoy a light lunch, before returning by coach to Porthmadog and then on to our hotel, arriving in time to relax and freshen up before our evening meal.
