Held in the impressive elevated parkland overlooking the magnificent Elizabethan architecture of Burghley House, the Battle Proms provide the perfect setting for an afternoon and evening of sublime music and dramatic displays.

 

The Battle Proms Concerts are the UK’s longest-running picnic proms series, attracting around 30,000 visitors each year since the first event in 1997. This quintessentially British “party in the park” features a two-hour orchestral performance, complete with all the traditional “Last Night of the Proms” favourites, set against the backdrop of some of the country’s most stunning stately homes.

In addition to the music, guests can enjoy unforgettable displays and entertainment that ensure the evening truly goes off with a bang!

Whether you’re planning a romantic evening for two, a celebration with friends, or a memorable family outing, the Battle Proms at Burghley offers a unique experience to remember.

Sat 11th July 2026

We will depart the local area in the morning and make a stop en route at the popular Mainsgill Farm Shop, renowned for its delicious local produce, charming gifts, and welcoming café.
We'll then continue our journey to the hotel, arriving with plenty of time to freshen up before heading out to the Battle of the Proms. Gates open at 4:30 pm, with an exciting afternoon and evening of entertainment including live music, historical reenactments, dancing to the orchestra and soprano performances, cavalry displays, stalls, picnic areas, and more. BBC presenter Pam Rhodes will host the event. Gates open at 4.30 pm with dancing from the big stage with swing dancing and live jazz to 6 pm
The concert opens with a gun salute just before the musical programme begins at 6.15 pm Calvary Display, 6.45 pm the Red Devils, 7.55 pm The Evening Gun Salute, 8 pm Spitfire Air Display.
From 8 - 10.30 pm there is a musical programme with orchestral music on the big stage from the New English concert Orchestra hosted by BBC presenter Pam Rhodes, Followed by Firework Display.

During the picnic event where guests either bring their own food or can buy at the function from the many stands you will see over 200 cannons,
There is music from the big stage, a performance from Denise Leigh Soprano who was on Britain's Got Talent.

The evening finishes around 10.30 pm with the fireworks finale with background rousing tunes to Land of Hope and Glory, Rule Britannia and Jerusalem to really get the atmosphere at a high

Tables and chairs can be hired in advance or booked on the day. Please note that the event will go ahead in all weather conditions.
After the concert, the coach will return us to the hotel for the night.

After a leisurely breakfast, we will depart for Harrogate, where you'll have free time to explore this elegant spa town at your own pace. Enjoy a stroll through the beautiful gardens, browse the stylish boutiques, or perhaps visit the famous Bettys Tea Rooms for a traditional afternoon treat.
Later in the day, we'll begin our return journey to Cumbria, bringing our trip to a relaxing close.
