Departing Cumbria in the early morning, we begin our journey south towards the beautiful South Downs National Park, travelling in comfort with suitable refreshment and comfort stops along the way. Arriving in the late afternoon, we check in to our hotel and have time to settle in and unwind before enjoying a delicious dinner and a relaxing evening, the perfect start to our South Downs getaway.

After breakfast, enjoy a visit to Arundel Castle, one of England’s finest historic castles, with time to explore its impressive state rooms, medieval architecture, and beautifully maintained gardens. Situated within the picturesque market town of Arundel, the castle offers spectacular views across the surrounding countryside and the South Downs National Park. Following your visit, enjoy free time in the town for lunch or browsing the independent shops before returning to the hotel for dinner and a relaxing evening.

Following breakfast this morning, we travel to Chichester for a heritage-focused day, beginning with a guided visit to Chichester Cathedral, renowned for its magnificent architecture, rich history, and beautiful art collection. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of Fishbourne Roman Palace, the largest Roman residence discovered in Britain, where you can explore its remarkable mosaics, reconstructed gardens, and fascinating archaeological remains. Later, return to the Hotel for your evening meal.

Thurs 26th Aug 27

After breakfast, we plan to visit Anne of Cleves House for a self-guided tour of this fascinating Tudor property, once owned by Anne of Cleves. Later, enjoy free time in the popular seaside resort of Bognor Regis, where you can take a stroll along the seafront, explore the pier, browse the local shops, or relax in one of the many cafés. In the late afternoon, return to the Hotel for your final evening meal and a relaxing overnight stay.

After breakfast, we bid farewell to our hosts and commence our return journey to Cumbria. Travelling in comfort, we will make several scheduled stops en route, providing opportunities to stretch our legs, relax, and enjoy refreshments before continuing home. As we journey north, there will be time to reflect on the many wonderful sights visited, new experiences enjoyed, and lasting memories made during our time in the beautiful South Downs and Sussex region.
