IN THE COMMUNITY

Our mission statement

“To have a significant, positive impact, that addresses social challenges within our main operating geographical areas of Copeland, Allerdale, Carlisle City and Eden.

Developing the next generation

Reays will proactively engage with the next generation by working with our local schools to inspire and unleash the potential in individuals and promote future career opportunities in our geographical areas. We will attend:

  • careers events

  • mock interviews and training

  • work experience

We will work collaboratively with Inspira who manage the schools programme across Cumbria to have a collective impact, while instigating contact with other known providers such as Centre for Leadership performance to make a difference to the lives of our local young people.

Employment and skills

Employing local people is a substantial benefit for the community as well as our business. Adopting a fair approach to recruiting and developing new employees helps to integrate our business into the community and improve our reputation.

We will provide opportunities to the unemployed to create sustainable change within the lives of individuals through our ‘Driving Academy’ programme.

We will continue to recruit a minimum of two apprentices each year into the business to assist in developing the next generation of leaders, through work-based learning.

We will provide work-based learning for individuals who seek to improve their skills and employability through volunteering programs.

Our expertise

Where our expertise is of benefit we provide independent support to projects to help others become sustainable.

There are a number of businesses that are already mobilising the individual expertise within their business to create positive social change with others. Where possible we will work collaboratively with others to create a social impact.

Give a day

All employees of Reays who wish to take part in voluntary, community or charitable work will be proactively encouraged to do so by launching our ‘Give a day’ initiative. In support of this initiative, each employee of Reays will be granted one day per year, paid leave to get involved in a community or charity day.

This is a great way to support good causes and offers an opportunity for our colleagues to work together within their local community, on activities that will directly benefit our local area.

Charity of the year

At Reay’s we’re proud to support the local communities in which we live and work. As a business we receive so many requests for sponsorship and donations from deserving causes, but unfortunately, we are unable to support every good cause. As a result we have decided to focus our efforts on one charity per year, known as our Charity of the Year in order to make a meaningful and lasting contribution.

Our goal is to build a relationship and work collaboratively with a charity partner to offer more than just a financial donation.

Our charity partner is chosen in December each year. To apply you need to be a registered charity or charitable voluntary organisation.

Please submit a written application in support of your charity and send it to info@reays.co.uk or post to Reays Coaches, Strawberry Fields, Syke Park, Wigton, CA7 9NE.
