The Shrigley Hotel and Spa ****

A luxurious Victorian country house hotel at the gateway to the Peak District The Shrigley Hall Hotel and Spa is an elegant Victorian country house, set in 262 acres of grounds on the edge of the Peak District National Park.


This hotel is well-known throughout the north-west of England for its 18-hole championship golf course and excellent leisure and spa facilities.


Inviting bedrooms offer just the right blend of space, comfort and character. Each with an ensuite bathroom, hairdryer, flat screen television, free WiFi, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries and 24 hour room service.


Expect superb dining in the AA rosette Oakbridge restaurant while the Courtyard bar offers a comfortable place to end your day and enjoy a thirst quenching beverage.

Leaving the local area early morning, we set off on a full day scenic tour where we will travel over Snake Pass to the renowned Lady Bower Reservoir, enjoying the tranquil charm and spectacular views of this rugged landscape, and not forgetting the reservoirs connection to The Dambusters. We continue our journey to the charming market town of Bakewell, perhaps best known for its unique and delicious pudding so while you’re
there, why not sample the famous Bakewell tart. We then journey onwards to our hotel, arriving in time for dinner this evening.


After breakfast we travel for a full day excursion to Matlock, full of charm with its many attractions. Crown Square and the River Derwent lie at the heart of Matlock, or take a stroll through the award-winning Hall Leys Park with its boating lake, the first of five beautifully restored public parks stretching along the Derwent to Matlock Bath. Afterwards rejoin the coach to return to our hotel, travelling over the Cat and Fiddle Pass with its stunning


Day three sees us head to elegant Buxton, here you can enjoy a full day in England’s leading spa town. Enjoy the Pavilion Gardens and Opera House, the Devonshire Dome and Poole’s Cavern, or why not ride a miniature train, you can even have a tour of Buxton on a Victorian Tram. Whatever takes your fancy, Buxton has plenty on offer. Later we return to our hotel in time for evening dinner.


After breakfast we begin our journey home but not before visiting the market town of Holmfirth, now more commonly known as the ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ town. After lunch we begin our journey back to Cumbria, arriving late afternoon.
