REAYS REACH UK BUS AWARDS FINALS

Reays are proud to announce that we have been chosen as finalists in the 2011 UK Bus Awards.

We had initially been selected for the short-list in this prestigious national competition from more than 250 entries from across Britain.

Then on Wednesday September 14, it was announced at an awards luncheon in Nottingham that we had reached the final, which will take place at London's Hilton Hotel on Park Lane on November 29.

Managing director Chris Reay, who attended the lunch, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen for the finals of this hugely prestigious award, which is bascially the Oscars of the bus industry. It is a reward for all the hard work all our staff have put in since we launched City Hopper and for the amazing support and loyalty our customers have shown us.

"We are incredibly proud of City Hopper, which is continuing to grow all the time in terms of passenger numbers and routes, and of all our other bus services. We regard ourselves as the best in Cumbria - and now we hope we'll be able to say we're the best in the UK."

Our latest accolade comes as we prepare to celebrate the first anniversary of our City Hopper public bus service in Carlisle on October 1.

The UK Bus Awards are the industry's most prestigious annual national award for independent companies. Sponsored by bus and coach manufacturer Scania, they are organised by The Bus Industry Awards Limited.

The awards are for smaller bus companies - or operators of registered local bus services - with fleets of fewer than 100 vehicles not owned by a public limited company (plc).

The winner will be announced after finalists have been assessed by "mystery travellers."

Entries have already been judged on a range of different criteria, including customer relations, timekeeping, environmental and social responsibility, employee relations policies and health and safety.

Reays' now operate seven City Hopper bus services across Carlisle. We also run several rural public bus routes in north Cumbria, including the 39 and 77 which had both been axed by other operators earlier this year. Reays also run school bus services in north and west Cumbria, as well as private hire coaches and a fleet of luxury limousines.

More than 15,000 passengers a week now travel on the City Hopper buses, which operate out of our Carlisle depot off London Road. Reays also operate a city centre travel shop in Devonshire Street, where tickets can be bought for City Hopper buses and the company's other services, including holidays and day excursions.
